History

Ador Edelmetalle GmbH was founded in 1994 as an independently operating German sales subsidiary of H. Drijfhout & Zoon's Edelmetaalbedrijven BV, Amsterdam. Its beginnings date back as far as 1827.

The then Dutch parent company had an excellent reputation in the international precious metals industry at the time. It was one of the few companies registered as an "Approved Melter and Assayer" for all precious metals at the London Metal Exchange and London Bullion Market.

In 2011, the decision was made to expand the dental alloy portfolio in the precious metal sector to include the products of Bauer Walser AG. This enabled one of the most extensive precious metal alloy portfolios on the market to be built up. The ADOR brand was thus firmly established in the German dental market.

Since 2015, Ador Edelmetalle GmbH in Germany has been one of the few manufacturers worldwide to also produce non-precious metal dental alloys made of cobalt chrome and distributes them successfully worldwide. The range extends from analog casting alloys to CAD-CAM metal blanks and metal powders for modern SLM (selective laser melting) production.

In 2019 & 2020, there was a generational change at Ador Edelmetalle GmbH. Christopher Morboga and Tobias Mehwitz formed the management duo. Bernhard Sonanini left the company at this time due to his age and Rainer Koch remained in an advisory capacity.

In 2021, work began on expanding the digital product portfolio in order to broaden the company's base. Many new consumables and technical products round off the extensive range.

In April 2024, Ador Edelmetalle GmbH was then renamed Ador Dental GmbH to reflect the further development and realignment of the company within the dental industry.
